At approximately 7:20 a.m. this morning an arrest warrant
issued out of Wyandotte County, KS, was executed for a suspect with the
charges of (1) count of rape and (1) count of aggravated indecent liberties
with a child. This arrest warrant was executed by the FBI Violent Crimes
Task Force in the 400 block of Shawnee Rd. in Kansas City, Kansas. This
task force is comprised of Agents and Law Enforcement Officers from the
FBI; Kansas City, KS Police Department; Kansas City, MO Police Department;
and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Upon entering the residence members
of the task force were confronted by the suspect who was armed. A confrontation
ensued which resulted in shots being fired. The suspect later died at
an area hospital. This matter is being jointly investigated by the FBI,
the Kansas City, KS Police Department, The Missouri State Highway Patrol
and the Wyandotte County District Attorney's office. There is nothing
further to report at this time.
