of Justice Contact: Jim Cross Dec. 17, 2008 FEDERAL CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FILED IN ROBBERY AT CREDIT UNION IN LAWRENCEKANSAS CITY, KAN. - David N. Hause, Jr., 38, has been charged in a federal criminal complaint with robbing a credit union in Lawrence, Kan., Acting U.S. Attorney Marietta Parker announced today. According to the complaint, on Dec. 12, 2008, Hause robbed the Midwest Regional Credit Union at 1015 W. 6th Street in Lawrence. An agent's affidavit charges that Hause walked into the credit union at about 10:15 a.m. on the day of the robbery. He pushed a white plastic grocery store bag under the teller's window and told a teller to give him all the money. When a branch manager noticed what Hause was doing and told him to leave the credit union, Hause struck her in the face with his right fist and left with the money. On Dec. 16, 2008, federal agents arrested Hause near the Regency Inn at 4725 State Avenue in Kansas City, Kan. Investigators learned that Hause had been staying in a room rented by an associate at the Regency Inn. If convicted, he
faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to
$250,000. Agencies that worked on the case include the Federal Bureau
of Investigation, the Lawrence Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service,
and the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office.
