PROJECT SAFE CHILDHOOD

JEFFERSON CITY MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

 

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Jefferson City, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today on charges related to downloading child pornography over the Internet.

Jesse Aaron Lipe, 26, of California, Mo., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Nanette K. Laughrey this morning to six years in federal prison without parole. The court also ordered Lipe to forfeit to the government an 80GB computer hard drive and a Dell Dimension computer that were used to commit the violations.

On Sept. 21, 2007, Lipe pleaded guilty to attempting to transport child pornography over the Internet, receiving child pornography over the Internet and being in possession of child pornography.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Lynn. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the State Technical Assistance Team and the California, Mo., Police Department.

This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
