WICHITA MAN CONVICTED OF BANK ROBBERY

WICHITA, KAN. – Vance G. Bradshaw, 31, Wichita, was convicted Wednesday on one count of bank robbery.

A jury returned the verdict at the end of a two-day trial in federal court in which prosecutors argued that on April 28, 2008, Bradshaw robbed the Intrust Bank at 105 N. Main in Wichita.

Evidence presented at trial showed Bradshaw entered the bank about 1:30 p.m. and gave a teller a note saying, “Take all the money from the till and place it on the counter.” Earlier the same day, Bradshaw was photographed by surveillance cameras at two other banks.

After a photo from a bank surveillance camera appeared in the news, Wichita police received a tip that led them to Bradshaw.

Bradshaw is set for sentencing Nov. 3, 2008. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Wichita Police Department investigated. U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren and Assistant U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch prosecuted.
