BB GUN BANK ROBBER SENTENCED TO 55 MONTHS

TOPEKA, KAN. – A Topeka man who carried a BB gun when he robbed banks in Topeka was sentenced Thursday to 55 months in federal prison.

Tremaine Mondale Beadles, 25, pleaded guilty in December 2007 to four counts of robbery including:

– An Oct. 22, 2006, robbery at McDonald’s restaurant, 3530 N.W. 36th in Topeka where he worked. He said he helped R andall WayneThomas plan the robbery. Thomas committed the robbery and gave Beadles a share of the proceeds.
– A Nov. 13, 2006, robbery at Kaw State Bank, 4700 N.W. Hunters Ridge, Topeka, Kan. Beadles said he helped Thomas and another man plan the robbery. He wrote the robbery note, and he loaned his car to the two men for the robbery. He also helped case the bank before the robbery.
– A Nov. 24, 2006, robbery at Kaw Valley Bank, 1944 N.W. Topeka Blvd., Topeka, Kan. Thomas was carrying a BB gun when he entered the bank alone and demanded money.
– A Nov. 28, 2006, robbery at Capital City Bank, 2915 S.W. Wanamaker, Topeka, Kan. Again, Beadles was carrying a BB gun when he entered the bank alone and forced the tellers to give him cash.

Thomas is awaiting trial on two federal robbery counts.

U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Topeka Police Department, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office and Assistant U.S. Attorney Randy Hendershot for their work on the case.
