KANSAS CITY, KAN., MAN INDICTED ON CHARGE OF TAKING MINOR OUT OF STATE FOR UNLAWFUL SEXUAL ACTIVITIES

Other indictments: Bank robbery, drug trafficking, firearms violations

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Jesse Herd, 35, Kansas City, Kan., was indicted Wednesday on one count of transporting a minor across state lines for the purpose unlawful sexual activities. The crime is alleged to have occurred from July 2004 to July 23, 2006, in Wyandotte County, Kan.

Herd was arrested in April and charged in Wyandotte County District Court with 12 counts of sex crimes against a child.

If convicted on the federal charge, Herd faces a penalty of not less than 10 years and not more than life in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Federal Bureau of Investigation worked on the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Martin is prosecuting.
