NEWS RELEASE OFFICE OF THE UNITED STATES ATTORNEY WESTERN DISTRICT OF MISSOURI JOHN F. WOOD Contact Don Ledford, Public Affairs (816) 426-4220 400 East Ninth Street, Room 5510 Kansas City, MO 64106 www.usdoj.gov/usao/mow/index.html SEPTEMBER 11, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FORMER DOUGLAS COUNTY JUDGE INDICTED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY KANSAS CITY, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a former Douglas County, Mo., judge was reindicted by a federal grand jury today for being in possession of child pornography. Roger E. Wall, 59, of Ava, Mo., was charged in a three-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Kansas City. Today’s indictment contains similar charges and replaces a federal indictment that was dismissed on Sept. 5, 2007. Wall was an associate circuit judge for Missouri’s 44 th Circuit prior to his resignation, which was effective Feb. 21, 2005. Today’s indictment alleges that Wall was in possession of videotapes containing child pornography in November 2004. The federal indictment also alleges that Wall was in possession of three or more videotapes containing child pornography beginning in 1996 until as late as January 1998, the exact dates being unknown. Count Three of the federal indictment is a forfeiture count, which would require Wall to forfeit to the government any videotapes or other matter containing child pornography as alleged in the indictment. Wood cautioned that the charges contained in the indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard E. Monroe. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
