LEE'S SUMMIT MAN INDICTED FOR CHILD PORN, ILLEGALLY POSSESSING AMMUNITION

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Bradley J. Schlozman, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Lee’s Summit, Mo., man was indicted by a federal grand jury today for possessing child pornography and, in a separate indictment, for illegally possessing ammunition.

Jeffrey Dewain Dueker, 38, of Lee’s Summit, was charged in an two-count indictment and in a second single-count indictment, both returned by a federal grand jury in Kansas City.

Child Pornography

Counts One and Two of the federal indictment allege that Dueker was in possession of child pornography on Jan. 21, 2007, and on Jan. 26, 2007.

Illegal Ammunition

Today’s indictment alleges that Dueker, having been convicted of a felony crime, was in possession of multiple .22-caliber bullets on Jan. 26, 2007.

Under federal law, Schlozman explained, it is illegal for anyone who has been convicted of a felony to be in possession of any firearm or ammunition.

Schlozman cautioned that the charges contained in these indictments are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

These cases are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Katharine Fincham. They were investigated by the Lee’s Summit, Mo., Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
