FEDERAL INMATE INDICTED FOR THREATENING FEDERAL JUDGE, U.S. ATTORNEYSPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Bradley J. Schlozman, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced today that an Oregon man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for mailing threatening letters to a federal magistrate judge and a former U.S. Attorney. Bruce Dewayne Jensen, 29, of Oregon, was charged in a three-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Springfield on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006. Jensen is serving a federal prison sentence at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield. Count One of the federal indictment alleges that Jensen mailed a threatening letter to former U.S. Attorney Todd P. Graves on March 3, 2005. Count Two of the federal indictment alleges that Jensen mailed a threatening letter to U.S. Magistrate Judge James C. England on March 3, 2005. Count Three of the federal indictment alleges that Jensen mailed a threatening letter to the clerk of the U.S. District Court in Springfield, which contained a threat to injure U.S. Magistrate Judge James C. England, on Sept. 13, 2006. Schlozman cautioned that the charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence. This case is being prosecuted by Deputy U.S. Attorney Michael A. Jones. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners.
